LOW VOLTAGE CABLE
Multi core NA2XBY Cable is a steel-tape armoured, aluminium-conductor, XLPE insulated, PVC sheathed low-voltage power cable manufactured in accordance with IEC 60502-1 for power networks up to and including 0.6/1 kV. Under the German VDE 0276-603 designation, NA2XBY refers to a standard-type cable (N) with aluminium conductor (A), XLPE insulation (2X), steel tape armour (B) and PVC outer sheath (Y), designed for three-phase power distribution circuits in installations exposed to impact, crushing, vibration or rodent damage, with reduced cable weight compared to copper-conductor variants.
Multi core NA2XBY Cable is designed as a steel-tape armoured low-voltage power cable for three-phase distribution circuits in fixed installations where additional mechanical protection is required and where reduced cable weight is preferred. It consists of three aluminium conductors, individually XLPE insulated and identified by colour, laid up together with non-hygroscopic fillers, covered by an inner PVC bedding, double steel-tape armour and a PVC outer sheath. The cable can be installed in tunnels, ducts, conduits, in masonry or directly buried in ground, including stony soils, utility distribution networks and routes with rodent risk.

For standard Multi core NA2XBY cable, the key distinction is the combination of three aluminium phase conductors with XLPE thermoset insulation, double steel-tape armour and a PVC outer sheath, rated at 0.6/1 kV (Um = 1.2 kV) in accordance with IEC 60502-1. The designation NA2XBY itself is defined under VDE 0276-603 in the German cable nomenclature system. Compared with copper-conductor N2XBY, NA2XBY offers significantly lower overall cable weight and reduced material cost, which is particularly valuable for armoured cables where the armour layer already adds substantial mass.
In a Multi core armoured construction, the alternating currents of the three phases sum to zero, so the magnetic fluxes through the armour are cancelled and no significant eddy-current or hysteresis losses are induced. Ordinary galvanized steel tape can therefore be used for the armour, providing full mechanical protection without the non-magnetic armour requirement that applies to single-core AC cables under IEC 60502-1 Clause 12.2.
Internationally, Multi core NA2XBY is a 0.6/1 kV Multi core aluminium steel-tape armoured XLPE/PVC power cable defined under IEC 60502-1, and is often cross-referenced with designations such as AL/XLPE/STA/PVC 3-core and YJLV22 3× under the Chinese GB standard.
Multi core NA2XBY Cable is manufactured for low-voltage three-phase power distribution systems with rated voltage up to and including 0.6/1 kV, in accordance with IEC 60502-1, with cable designation NA2XBY defined under VDE 0276-603. The cable is intended for power distribution circuits requiring additional mechanical protection and is suitable for fixed installation in tunnels, ducts, direct burial and industrial environments.
