ZD CABLE’s Quadruplex Service Drop Wire is designed for overhead electrical connections. It is mainly used for things like street lighting, outdoor lighting, and providing temporary electricity for building projects. This wire can be used for voltages up to 600 volts between phases. The temperature of the conductors should not go above 75ยฐC if they are insulated with polyethylene (PE), or 90ยฐC if they are insulated with cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE).
The Quadruplex Service Drop Wire is made up of phase conductors and a neutral conductor. The phase conductors can be made from aluminum or copper. They can be solid, or they can be made of many strands twisted together, either compacted or uncompressed. The neutral conductor is also made of many strands twisted together, usually from aluminum, copper, or an aluminum-alloy. It can also be made from ACSR (Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced) or ACSR/AW (Aluminum Conductor Aluminum-Clad Steel Reinforced). The outer covering, or insulation, is made of black material that can resist weather and UV rays. This material is either thermoplastic polyethylene (PE) or cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE). The neutral conductor can be either insulated or left without insulation.
ZD CABLE’s Quadruplex Service Drop Wire and its components meet the requirements of these standards:
- ANSI/ICEA S-76-474 Neutral-Supported Power Cable Assemblies With Weather-Resistant Extruded Insulation Rated 600 Volts.
- ASTM B 231 Class AA, A, or B Stranded Aluminum 1350 (Excluding Unilay Compressed).
- ASTM B 400 Compact-Round Stranded Aluminum 1350 Conductors.
- ASTM B 399 Class AA, or A Stranded Aluminum-Alloy 6201 T-81 Conductors.
- ASTM B 232 Concentric-Lay-Stranded Aluminum Conductors, Coated-Steel Reinforced (ACSR).
- ASTM B 549 For Concentric-Lay-Stranded Aluminum Conductors, Aluminum-Clad Steel Reinforced (ACSR/AW).
