ZD CABLE offers high-quality PVC-covered conductors designed specifically for overhead power lines. The product line includes two main categories defined by their operating voltage limits and color coding.
Type 8 Conductors
Engineers intend Type 8 for lower voltage applications. The operating voltage must not exceed 650 V between any two conductors or 250 V between a conductor and the earth. A black PVC covering identifies this specific type.
Type 16 Conductors
Type 16 conductors handle higher energy levels. They are suitable for systems where the voltage exceeds the limits of Type 8 but generally stays under 11 kV between conductors. The maximum voltage for conductor-to-earth connections is 6.6 kV. A green PVC covering identifies this higher-voltage wire.
Construction
The core consists of stranded metal wires, which can be circular compressed or uncompressed. Customers can choose from several materials, including aluminum, copper, aluminum-alloy, or ACSR (Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced).
