Aluminum Conductor Aluminum-Clad Steel Reinforced (ACSR/AW) is a conductor made of 1350-H19 aluminum wires. These wires are stranded in a concentric pattern around a core made of aluminum-clad steel.
It is used as a bare overhead cable for both transmission and primary and secondary distribution. It provides strength characteristics similar to those of ACSR. However, due to its aluminum-clad steel core, it has slightly greater ampacity (current-carrying capacity) and better resistance to corrosion.
The product is manufactured in compliance with several key international standards, which include:
- IEC 61089 Round Wire Concentric Lay Overhead Electrical Stranded Conductors
- ASTM B549 Concentric-Lay-Stranded Aluminum Conductors, Aluminum-Clad Steel Reinforced for Use in Overhead Electrical Conductors
- GB/T 1179 Round Wire Concentric Lay Overhead Electrical Stranded Conductors
