Tree Wire

Tree wire serves as an excellent solution for overhead power lines running through wooded areas. It prevents electrical shorts when branches or debris touch the lines. Utility companies install this cable for both primary and secondary distribution systems to ensure safety and reliability. It handles accidental contact with trees much better than bare wires, reducing the risk of power outages.

Features:

Operates at high voltages ranging from 15kV to 46kV.
Uses durable conductors like Aluminum-Alloy, Copper, or ACSR.
Includes a black semi-conducting conductor shield.
Protected by weather and UV-resistant XLPE or HDPE insulation.
Rated for continuous operation at temperatures of 75°C or 90°C.

Tree Wire is a specialized overhead cable designed to reduce power outages caused by nature. It features a robust design that allows it to withstand temporary contact with tree branches, which would normally cause a short circuit on a bare wire.

The cable starts with a stranded conductor, which is typically a compact round shape. Manufacturers use materials like Aluminum-Alloy, Copper, or ACSR (Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced) to ensure strength and conductivity. A black extruded semi-conducting shield covers this metal core to balance the electrical field.

Surrounding the shield is a high-quality insulation layer. This outer covering is made of Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) or thermoplastic polyethylene (PE/HDPE). Users can usually choose insulation in black, gray, or red. The material is tough enough to resist damage from sunlight (UV rays) and harsh weather conditions.
