Power cables carry energy safely and efficiently from substations and generation units to plants, buildings, and distribution networks. At ZD Cable, we manufacture a complete power cable program with copper or aluminum conductors and cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation rated for a 90 °C continuous conductor temperature. The range covers the full low- and medium-voltage band — from 0.6/1 kV up to 18/30 (36) kV — and every cable is built and type-tested to international and European standards, so the product you order matches the specification your project was designed and permitted against.
Our low voltage cables are produced to IEC 60502-1, which covers extruded-insulation power cables rated 1 kV (Um = 1.2 kV) and 3 kV (Um = 3.6 kV) for fixed installations such as distribution networks and industrial sites. Our medium voltage cables are produced to IEC 60502-2, covering rated voltages from 6 kV (Um = 7.2 kV) up to 30 kV (Um = 36 kV), and to the European harmonized standard UNE HD 620 S3 (3.6/6 (7.2) kV up to 20.8/36 (42) kV). Medium-voltage designs use a triple-extruded core — a semiconducting conductor screen, XLPE insulation, and a semiconducting insulation screen — with a copper-wire or copper-tape metallic screen; steel-tape or steel-wire armor is added where direct burial or mechanical protection is required. Conductors are manufactured to IEC 60228.
