Service Drop Cable

Triplex Service Drop

Service drop cables form the critical link between utility power lines and customer premises. ZD Cable manufactures high-quality service drop cables designed for overhead power distribution from pole-mounted transformers to residential, commercial, and industrial service entrances Our cables deliver reliable electricity supply at voltages of 600 volts phase-to-phase or less, ensuring safe and efficient power transmission to end users.

Our comprehensive service drop cable range includes Duplex cables for single-phase 120-volt applications, Triplex cables for standard residential power supply, and Quadruplex cables for three-phase power distribution. Each configuration features phase conductors made from aluminum or copper, paired with neutral conductors that can be bare or insulated. Phase conductors utilize either solid, stranded circular compacted, or compressed construction, while neutral conductors incorporate stranded aluminum, copper, aluminum-alloy, ACSR, or ACSR/AW configurations. Weather-resistant thermoplastic polyethylene (PE) or cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation protects conductors from environmental factors, with XLPE-insulated versions supporting conductor temperatures up to 90°C.

Applicable Standards

ZD Cable’s service drop cables comply with internationally recognized standards to ensure quality and safety:

  • ANSI/ICEA S-76-474: Neutral-Supported Power Cable Assemblies with Weather-Resistant Extruded Insulation Rated 600 Volts
  • ASTM B-231: Aluminum Conductors, Concentric-Lay-Stranded
  • ASTM B-230: Aluminum Wire, 1350-H19 for Electrical Purposes
  • ASTM B-232: Aluminum Conductors, Concentric-Lay-Stranded, Coated Steel Reinforced (ACSR)
  • ASTM B-399: Concentric-Lay-Stranded 6201-T81 Aluminum Alloy Conductors
  • ASTM B-901: Compressed Round Stranded Aluminum Conductors Using Single Input Wire
  • IEC 60502-1: Power Cables with Extruded Insulation for Rated Voltages from 1kV up to 30kV

Service drop cables excel in overhead service applications including street lighting systems, outdoor lighting installations, and temporary power for construction sites
