Overhead bare conductors carry electricity across transmission and distribution lines without any insulating cover, relying on air clearance and tower spacing for separation. At ZD Cable we manufacture the complete bare-conductor program — from all-aluminum (AAC) and aluminum-alloy (AAAC) conductors to steel-reinforced (ACSR), aluminum-clad-steel-reinforced (ACSR/AW), thermal-resistant (TACSR) and steel-supported (ACSS) designs, plus bare steel and clad strands (ACS, GSW, CCS), hard-drawn copper (HDBC) and optical ground wire (OPGW). Every conductor uses round-wire concentric-lay stranding and is built and type-tested to international standards, so what you receive matches the specification your line was designed against.
Conductor choice is a balance of conductivity, strength and environment. For shorter urban and coastal spans, AAC offers the best conductivity-to-weight ratio with excellent corrosion resistance, while AAAC adds mechanical strength and better sag behaviour. Where spans are long or loading is heavy, a galvanized or alloy steel core (ACSR, AACSR) carries the mechanical load; ACSS operates continuously at up to 250 °C for re-conductoring projects that need more capacity within existing clearances; and an aluminum-clad steel core (ACSR/AW) adds ampacity and corrosion protection for coastal or industrial atmospheres. Bare steel and clad strands (GSW, ACS, CCS) serve as conductor cores, overhead ground / shield wires and messenger supports, while OPGW integrates optical fibers into the ground wire for grid communications. Conductors are manufactured to IEC 61089, GB/T 1179, BS EN 50182, the relevant ASTM specifications, AS and NB/T 42060 as applicable.
